Moving into blossoming season: feminine habits to flourish into spring

Days slowly start to get longer, temperatures are warmer, trees start to blossom little by little. It is the perfect time to assist our body for detoxification and renewal, to prepare for a time of the year in which we will have more energy, and we will feel lighter.

Today we are going to explore different feminine habits that we can incorporate into this season, in order to flourish into our best selves.


According to Ayurveda, an ancient Indian holistic health system, during the cold winter months Kapha dosha is governing, characterized by heaviness, stability, slowness. Now, with the transition into spring, we can start to feel a bit sluggish, lethargic and congested, as a result of the accumulation of toxins. It is important that we help our bodies to remove the toxins of the winter, so we can blossom beautifully into the next season. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, spring is governed by the wood element, which represents growth, renewal, and the liver and gallbladder medirians. We will be supporting these organs to achieve radiant health.



Feminine Nourishment

It is the time to start transitioning into lighter foods, by incorporating seasonal vegetables with all the vitamins and minerals needed for this season.

Perfect choices now are: asparagus, broccoli, leafy greens, sprouted beans, artichokes. All of them have a diuretic effect and assist the liver in the detoxification process. 

You can also opt for spices that will stimulate the digestive fire, so your body will be able to breakdown and absorb the nutrients better. Spices that can be added are ginger, turmeric, cumin and black pepper.


Herbal Teas

Ideally, having green tea, dandelion root, milk thistle, or hibiscus in order to help the liver get rid of the toxins accumulated during winter time. Helping the liver through herbal support will also assist our skin to be clearer. 


Feminine Body Movement

With longer days and more sunlight, it is natural that the body craves more movement. Ideally, you will be guiding yourself with your intuition, whether by swimming, dancing, going for long walks in nature, or cycling. Exercising will help to eliminate the stagnation and stimulate circulation, leading to a natural detoxification.


Bringing light and softness into the routine

Think about how nature in blossoming, the beautiful flowers and perfumes... It is time to blossom for you as well. You could engage in hobbies that bring a sense of fulfillment and spark your creativity, such as: reading, painting, journaling, playing an intstrument or engaging into any kind of art. When you prioritize activities that nourish the spirit, you create space for inner peace and rejuvenation.


Self-massage to indulge into your senses

Another practice that you can incorporate is to indulge in self-massage with a warm oil such as coconut, almond, argan, with a few drops of any essential oils such as lavender, rose, geranium. It will nourish and hydrate your skin, promote relaxation and improve circulation, while helping to eliminate toxins accumulated.


Dry brushing or light lymphatic drainage

Doing a light dry brushing sequence before the shower or a lymphatic drainage routine can also move the toxins out of your body. Switching between hot and cold temperatures will also be helpful at this time. 


Slow Mornings

As days become longer, the body has more energy. Going with the season and waking up early, following a spiritual practice, such as journaling, meditation, contemplation, praying or yoga, can help to bring more peace and light into your life.


Growing Strong

It is a beautiful time to be in contact with nature, with planting seeds and watching them grow strong in the garden. At the same time, this energy can be applied into projects, It is a good time to set goals, think about the steps to take, and achieve them.
